Thank you to the community in participating in a special holiday tradition in the Columbia community, a tradition that represents families, fun, giving, and the spirit of the holidays. Churches, businesses, organizations, families and individuals are the spirit of the Festival of Trees. It is people working together for a common cause, which can help make it successful.
Frigid
temperatures could not keep the kids away from Santa at the Columbia Festival
of Trees. The Festival was a HUGE
success with kids lining up to get a chance to let Santa know everything that
they wanted for Christmas. Joe Desmont,
Columbia Township Trustee Mike Musto, Miss Liberty Royalty Karlie Smick and
Alexis Pohjman were on hand to open the festival with the tree lighting
ceremony. Special thanks go out to Santa’s helper, Shayla Jadud Zachar. Boy Scouts Troop 176, 111 and the 4H Hoof
& Hide were a huge help with everything from setting up the trees to
manning the Christmas Cards for Soldiers Table. Jennifer & Miss Liberty Royalty Rebecca Pritt assisted to
make the event run smoothly. A great
big thank you goes out to Forevergreen Spruce Farm for donating the Gazeebo
tree.
Festival-goers
were able to warm up with the help Jimmy Wright Jr of Wrights Catering &
Concessions who provided refreshments in the warmth of the Columbia Fire
Department.
Finally, this
event could not have been possible without the dedication of the Festival Chair
Wayne Brassell, a special thank you goes out to him and his wife Debi for
everything that they did to make this event one that the community will
cherish.
