As most of you know, Karlie Smick is one of the Homecoming Festivals Royal Court so we are proud to get the word out about her fundraiser that she is doing this year for the 4th year! Here are the details.
"Karlie's Cause", wants to help out Ziggy's Friends again this year. It is with a heavy heart that we are doing it in Memory of one of it's great founder's~~Bruce Arneson. Bruce was a strong part of "Ziggy's Friends" and died from a result of his love for animals. Bruce was working/training a rescue dog and accidentally got bit. (It was a playful bite!). The bite wound got infected and he was rushed to the hospital. His bite wound got "SEPSIS" that his immune system just could not fight off. He suffered before the infection got into his liver and he died in a few days. The animal community here in NorthEast Ohio was just devastated. Bruce was a good friend to many and a strong, loving caring, gentle man who died doing what he loved~~~RESCUE!!! The dog who accidently bit him was adopted out to a loving "furever" home! They didn't blame the dog--it was a playful bite--this is a part of rescuing, re-habing and re-homing!
When we found out about Bruce's passing, (In October), Karlie was heart-broken. (This was right after we buried her beloved Grampa). We went to his memorial and on the way there Karlie said to me~~"Mommie this years Karlie's Cause can we do it for Ziggy's Friend's in memory of Bruce?" I said well "baby we normally do it for a different rescue each year". She said "I know Mommie, but June is really going to need help with money and donations this year, and with Bruce now in heaven she needs my help!" I started to tear up--so young but yet so wise for a 9 year old! I agreed that Ziggy's Friends, that June and her husband Bruce founded, needed her help.
So....this is why I'm writing/e-mailing you. Hoping that maybe you would be generous and help out "Karlie's Cause". This year Karlie would love for it to be all about Ziggy's Friends and the wonderful work they do!! Any and all help would be appreciated!! Can you, will you PLEASE help?
Karlie's Birthday is Jan. 20th and she will be 10 years old. This will be her 4th Annual Karlie's Cause. We are doing the fundraiser Jan. 16th--27th. We are praying that within those 2 weeks we can help raise the funds that Ziggy's Friend's desperately needs.
We would love to surprise June and show her that the community will always love Bruce and that his work will never be forgotten! Most of their dogs are rescued from our local county "KILL" shelter and without them a lot of cats and dogs would not have found their "furever homes".
I hope you can see that this "Cause" & Ziggy's Friends is deserving to receive your attention. It's a small rescue, but it does such good work in the community that without them many dogs and cats would be killed.
The fundraiser will run from Jan. 16th thru Jan. 27th.

The Grateful Dog Bakery 31966 Center Ridge Road N. Ridgeville OH 44039 Nancy--the owner of The Bakery will do a "round off" for those 2 weeks. Any purchase can be rounded off to the next dollar and that amount will be donated to Ziggy's Friends. She will also give a 10% discount for any toys or treats purchased for Ziggy's Friends and left in the donation bin at the store!
