Please note the term "band" is used to refer not only to traditional bands but also, duo's, rap artists,and any other music orientated group.
Q: What type of bands can enter?
A: The competition is open to all bands & duo’s. Original songs are encouraged along with cover songs.
Q: What is the deadline for submitting applications and is there an entry fee?
A: There is a NON-REFUNDABLE entry fee. The Early Bird Deadline is April 15, 2008 with a $25.00 entry fee. If your application is received after the April 15th deadline the late entry fee is $50.00. The Final Deadline for ALL applications is May 1, 2008 and the entry fee is NON-REFUNDABLE.
Q: Where do I send the application and entry fee?
A: All complete applications with entry fee must be sent to: Columbia Chamber of Commerce; P.O. Box 428; Columbia Station, OH 44028.
Q: How can I pay entry fee?
A: Personal checks, Visa and Mastercard, money order, or bank check will be accepted. However, if a check does not clear, the band will not be considered unless they submit cash for their entry fee plus and additional $25.00 returned check fee.
Q: Do we need to pre-sell tickets for this event?
A: No pre-ticket sales are required by bands. This event is FREE for everybody who attends our festival.
Q: Where is the event held?
A: This event will be held during the Columbia Homecoming Festival located at the Columbia Township Park (25540 Royalton Road; Columbia Station, OH 44028).
Q: Is there a cover charge for this event?
A: There is no cover charge to attend the Columbia Homecoming Festival. This is a FREE event.
Q: What equipment will be provided?
A: A complete professional sound company will be provided. Guitar amps, bass amp, and drum set will be supplied for every stage at each venue. All bands are required to use our backline (including the drum set) for their performance. Please be specific on the application with who requires a microphone and what instrument will be used. This helps us determine our backline that will be needed for the day.
Q: I have both an acoustic guitar and an electric guitar so will I need a special hook up for both?
A: No, there will be microphones for acoustic and electric guitars.
Q: Will I need to bring a microphone to sing through or microphone for my instrument?
A: No, all microphones will be provided.
Q: May I use my effects or pedal boards for my guitar?
A: Yes, you will be able to plug into the amp provided for the backline.
Q: What about sound checks?
A: With every band using the same equipment, the first band to play is to apply their drum breakables and perform a complete sound check. All bands proceeding the first get a quick line check before they perform.
Q: Who do I contact for techinical questions regarding the stage setup, microphone setup, amp setup, backline, sound, or lighting?
A: You may contact our technician Guy DeNillo via at audiotech@columbiastation.com or telephone at 440-458-6305. Mr. DeNillo will be handling both the qualifying and final rounds. He is a professional musician and owner of All Topp Entertainment www.alltoppentertainment.com.
Q: Can I sell my own material, merchandise, etc. at the Columbia Homecoming Festival?
A: Yes, b ands that have been chosen to perform in the Top 10 at the festival may sell their merchandise at the festival. There will be a special tent area for you to do this.
